Gala Days
Gala Day was a great success for our year 5 and 6 students. The year 5 and 6 boys’ soccer teams played 3 games each at the Brisbane Grammar Fields and all of our teams enjoyed the day with some fantastic results, including our senior division 1 boys being undefeated. Both of our girls’ soccer teams wore the Gala Day uniform with pride and played very well, winning most of their games until they played against each other at the end of the day. The girls’ netball teams played their absolute best and although some results did not go their way, they continued to improve game by game and are looking to build on their skill development going into the next round of matches.

Winter Uniform
A reminder that during cooler months, a school jumper is part of our uniform. Other jackets, sweatshirts, vests can be worn to and from school but need to be swapped for the uniform jumper, when at school. Each class has access to washed ‘pre- loved’ jumpers, for students to borrow if they forget their school jumper.
A number of our younger students have been bringing lip salves to school to treat or prevent chapped lips. Please ensure that any lip salves are naturally coloured.
Senior Gala Days
Our final gala day will be held on Friday the 11th of June. Booking restrictions for the fields mean that there is no make-up day available for the cancelled day on the 4th of June.

3T’s Information Reports
It was delightful to visit 3T this week to see the wonderful Information Reports students are creating relating to bees. They have even created wonderful colourful bees to decorate our garden.
Did you know we have our very own stingless bee hive at New Farm State School?
Our stingless beehive is located in our edible garden, opposite the hall. Come and take a look, but please take care not to disturb these "true blue" Australian bees!
Stingless bees, sometimes called stingless honey bees or simply meliponines, are a large group of bees, comprising the tribe Meliponini. They belong in the family Apidae, and are closely related to common honey bees, carpenter bees, orchid bees, and bumblebees.

Badminton Fun!
Florence in Prep E challenged Mr Ramos to a game of badminton this week. It is great to see our students using the outdoor equipment available during playtime and even encouraging our teachers to have a go too.

Ayla has created her very own take on The Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle. She included her voice into her work with incredible expression and her images were fantastic. I was blown away by her outstanding work. Well done Ayla!
