IMPORTANT NOTICES
What if my child is unwell?
Any child who is showing signs of illness or feeling unwell, must stay at home.
If a child is showing signs of illness at school, the school will contact the parent or carer to collect the child.
Flexible School Hours
Over the past few weeks there has been some media reporting and commentary that mistakenly suggested schools would be moving to a four-day week.
Queensland State Schools are operational and will continue to operate five days per week. Where flexible school start and finish times are considered, such as is at Fortitude Valley State High school, there is always rigorous consultation with all stakeholders and a strict process to follow.
I wanted to clarify, with all parents, that the hours of operation for New Farm State School will remain the same and there are no plans to alter start or finish times.
School Vision
As you will be aware, we recently took part in a whole school review process. This review process, helps us plan our Strategic Direction for the next four years. The next step for our strategic direction, is to ensure our vision reflects the direction of our school for the next 4 years.
We value your input into the process and invite your contributions. From next Wednesday to Friday, there will be display boards outside the Prep playground, before and after school. These will have some questions relating to areas for development e.g., wellbeing and curriculum.
Please stop by and add your voice, comments and statements to these display boards. Alternatively, come along to a Vision Workshop in the library at 9.30 a.m. on Wednesday the 29th of November.
Classes 2024
On the Tuesday of week 10, our students will meet their 2024 teacher, in their new classroom. At the end of this day, they will bring a postcard home introducing their teacher. If a student is away on holiday, this postcard will be emailed to you. Prep 2024 students will have their postcard emailed to them.
As we take new enrolments continuously, the classes remain in draft until day 8 of the new school year. Occasionally classes are changed to reflect these new numbers

- Prep – Year 2 Dance Extravaganza
The Prep-Year 2 Dance Extravaganza will be held on Tuesday the 5th of December.
We ask that the Prep-Year 2 students dress up in Christmas-themed costumes. Any white/red/green/sparkly tinsels etc would be great. If students are choosing to wear a skirt or dress, please wear shorts under, so they feel more comfortable while dancing.

QParents
We kindly ask that all NFSS families register with QParents.
QParents is a parent portal that we are progressing towards making our one-stop-shop platform for parents. Recent upgrades to the functionality of QParents, means that it will become a portal for permissions for school excursions.
QParents is available via either a website or a handy app, which enables fast access to pay multiple invoices at once and provide multiple permissions at once.
