New Farm Public School is committed to fostering inclusivity and representing the diversity of our students. We are currently reaching out to invite First Nations parents and family members to participate as First Nations representatives at our monthly P&C meetings.

The P&C meetings are a platform where parents and family members can actively contribute to the decision-making processes and support the school in creating a nurturing environment for our students. By having First Nations representatives on board, we can better ensure that the voices and perspectives of our First Nations students and their families are represented and heard.  

Responsibilities of First Nations parent and family representatives may include:  

• Attending P&C monthly meetings and actively participating in discussions 
• Voicing concerns, suggestions and recommendations from a First Nations perspective  
• Collaborating with staff and parents to promote cultural awareness and inclusivity  
• Providing suggestions about cultural activities, celebrations or educational initiatives that celebrate First Nations culture within our school community. 

Welcoming the participation of First Nations families in our P&C meetings, as well as collaborating and engaging with First Nation community members and organisations signifies a crucial and foundational step in our journey towards reconciliation.
