Harmony Day and National Day of Action against Bullying
Thank you again to the NDA organising team Jo Minto, Mel Norman and all the staff from EQ NDA organisers who contributed to Friday’s whole school celebration and following cyber safety workshops. The Honourable Grace Grace attended and was delighted to see the students supporting the day with their national flags and in wearing traditional dress or Orange for Harmony Day. Minister Grace also attended the Pledge Wall with school captains and Grandfriends and joined the Year 5s during their cyber safety workshop.
National Day of Action
Cyber Safety Workshops
Harmony Week (15–21 March) is always celebrated at New Farm SS and this year we were amazed to see over 70 different nationalities represented in our school. Thank you to all the parents who attended or supported with organising costumes and flags.
Harmony Day Celebrations
SOD Turning
Minister Grace also joined staff, students, building contractors (Paynters) and our project manager from Honeywill Consulting on Friday for the first sod turning on our new building site. The works are clearly underway and it was exciting to be able to join the Minister and our school captains Liam and Pearl for this occasion.
Planning Days
Ms Norman and Ms Loudon are working with year levels teachers in this last fortnight to plan term 2 curriculum units. The planning sessions focus on teachers collaboratively developing consistent assessment tasks and marking guides to ensure consistency across year levels. This term our focus is English units.

Parent Teacher Interviews
A reminder that our Parent Teacher Interviews will be held on Wednesday the 28th of April and Thursday the 29th of April.
No interviews can be booked yet, until the site opens on Friday the 26th of March at 6 p.m.
The PTO software complies with Education Queensland privacy policy. The data that is uploaded, as part of the process, replaces parent names and student names with generic values of student ID numbers. When parents register for an appointment each name and email address is storied securely with PTO.
If you have any questions or concerns about security or privacy of information stored in PTO please visit the www.parentteacheronline.com.au/privacy
Instructions for Booking Parent-Teacher Interviews –
Wednesday 28th and Thursday the 29th of April
N.B. The PTO site will be open on Friday the 26th of March from 6 p.m.
- You will need the yellow paper log on slip which will be sent home with your child/children on Thursday the 25th of March.
- Open the PTO login screen using the following link https://bookings.parentteacheronline.com.au/?school=zaja5 this link will also be available on the school website from Friday or download the PTO app on your mobile phone.
- At the PTO login screen, click “Register for use” and enter the security code zaja5, your name and email address. Then click “Send registration”. By doing so you are consenting to your information being stored in PTO and being used for the purpose of interview bookings.
- An email containing your login PIN will be sent to the email address you provided. You may need to check your junk mail folder as genuine email messages can sometimes be incorrectly classified as junk mail.
- If you don’t have an email address, contact the school 3358 7333 so that we can enter your details for you.
- The email from PTO will contain login details, click “Login” on the PTO login screen and enter your surname and PIN as shown in the email.
- Enter the Student ID of the student for whom you wish to book interviews (this will be sent home on a yellow paper slip, with your child.) You can enter more than one ID if you have multiple students at the school. The classes of each student can be listed to check that you have entered the ID correctly, and to help distinguish between siblings.
- You can optionally enter the name of the students for the IDs entered. By doing so you are consenting to the student’s name being stored and used in PTO for interview bookings. You do not have to enter the name of the student(s) but doing so will help you when making bookings and will also help teachers to know who they are seeing/discussing for each interview.
- After you have entered your student ID(s) and optional name(s), proceed to make bookings as instructed on the screen.
Some extra information:
- If two parents/guardians wish to attend the interview time slot, one parent/guardian should make the booking, then both can attend.
- You will only see time slots that are available at the time you are using the system. As time slots become booked for teachers, those time slots are no longer displayed as available. PTO prevents double-booking of teachers or parents/guardians.
- When you have made all the bookings you require, you can download or email a PDF report of your bookings in time order for printing. You can log in and change bookings any time up to 12pm on the day of interviews.
- If you misplace the yellow slip with your student’s I.D. number you can find it on their last report card or recent invoices.
- Other parents may be making bookings at the same time that you are using the system. It is possible, though unlikely, that a time slot is displayed to you as available, but is then booked by another parent shortly afterwards. If you then attempt to book this time slot it will not be available and a message will be displayed to indicate this.
- If you encounter any problems using PTO please contact the school office by phone on 3358 7333 or at admin@newfarmss.eq.edu.au
- If you have any questions or concerns about security or privacy of information stored in PTO please visit the www.parentteacheronline.com.au/privacy
