Return to School May 25
Following 2 weeks of low transmission rates, state schools will return to school for all students on Monday 25 May. This was very welcomed news for families and staff at New Farm State School.
Following are some key points that will apply during this return to school.
- Social distancing
Physical distancing protocols continue to apply to adults in the school setting. It is important that all adults:
- maintain 1.5m physical distance from each other, including in staff rooms and offices;
- conduct meetings online or via telephone wherever possible so please contact teachers on your class Dojo to discuss issues or arrange a telephone meeting;
- refrain from congregating in and around areas such as our office, school gates, carparks and outside classrooms.
- Our drop off zone in Heal Street has been working very well in the mornings and we will continue to use this for all students. At the end of the school day we will continue with:
- Preps ready for pick up at 2:45pm from the Hall,
- Year 1s at 2:55pm from outside C Block (low demountable classroom on corner of James and Heal Streets)
- Yr 2 – 6 at 3pm from either Heal Street or Hawthorne Street Pick areas;
- practise effective hand hygiene and cough/sneeze etiquette;
- stay away from the school if unwell.
- Vulnerable people
- Students who are unable to return to school due to medical reasons will continue to have access to learning through the learning@home site. I would also encourage students and families to continue to stay connected to their classes via the class Dojo app. This has been a great way for communicating.
- Staff who are unable to return to school due to medical reasons will continue to work from home and the school will employ other relief teachers during this time. Our staff changes will be finalised this week and I will update parents as soon as possible.
- Hygiene Procedures
- With an increased number of students attending school next week, we will continue implementing our strict hygiene measures, including:
- Regular handwashing and hand sanitising, particularly before and after eating, and after going to the toilets;
- Increased cleaning of school classrooms, particularly high frequency touch points including drinking bubblers, door handles, toilet taps, toilet door handles and handrails.
- Students are also encouraged to bring their own personal water bottles for use during the day.

Pick up and drop off – LOOKOUT Program

- Tell your children which pick up area you will use on a regular basis
- Complete the lookout form so that you can display your family name as this helps staff identify you and call your child to the car
- Display the lookout display label on your car visor as this is the best place for visibility
Camps, Excursions and other Extra-Curricular Activities 2020
- Just a reminder that unfortunately we will not be conducting assemblies, interschool activities, camps, excursions, sports or arts events including concerts and performances until further notice.
