Celebrating Birthdays
Some students like to involve their classmates in celebrating their birthday at school. Teachers are happy to facilitate these requests but do require notice. If food is to be shared at school, teachers need to check the medical records of their students in case there are students with allergies in their classroom. They may need to confirm ingredients with you and then contact parents of students who could be affected. Parents then may choose to send different ‘treat food’ for their child.
As you can appreciate this process takes time and is important to keep all our students safe.
Therefore, we would appreciate at least a day’s notice if you are intending to send food for a birthday. If notice has not been given it will not be possible to share food with other students.
