QSR UpdateOur QSR Committee are currently drafting the School Strategic Plan ready for review with David Curran on Thursday 7 November. At the end of last term the committee met to collate and review all the information gathered from parents, students, staff, as well as school external data profile information and the Full School Review full report. There was plenty to work through and it was valuable to also view other school strategic plan samples. I look forward to sharing more with you in early November following our committee meeting.
2020 Prep Enrolments
Current enrolment 522. We have now interviewed 60 of our 2020 preps and still 14 yet to be interviewed. With our Open Day planned for Tuesday 29 October 9-10:45am, please encourage any families yet to enrol to do so soon, otherwise they may have to wait for January 2020 for an interview.
2020 Teacher Preferences
Thank you to all parents who have submitted a request for 2020 class allocations. The submissions will close on Friday 18 October and after that no further requests will be considered. Just a reminder that we use a detailed data base to assist in forming balanced classes, which consider a wide range of factors. We do not take requests for individual teachers.
Monday 21 Oct - City Cluster Conference 2019
Our city cluster schools conference for teachers is again being held at Windsor State School with John Edwards as special guest speaker. The conference also focuses on professional sharing with many teachers presenting workshops. From our school Cristian Arredondo and Chris Chapman will showcase some of their work in STEM robotics and mindfulness. Teacher aides will attend the city cluster teacher aide conference at Ascot State School which is a fantastic initiative introduced by the cluster this year.
2020 STEM Coach
John Rafter will be on leave in 2020 and we are currently interviewing for a new STEM coach. Our BYOD program will begin roll out next year in our Year 4 classes and an information session will be scheduled for Year 3 parents this term. Further details to come. Thank you to John for the extensive work he and his committee have undertaken over the past 18 months to establish our strategic planning and focus on resourcing, teacher development and BYOD investigation. Thank you also to all parents for the wonderful fundraising which has enabled us to substantially increase student access to devices, thanks especially our P&C Vice President Janelle Moody for her support with the committee.
Oval – rejuvenation project
Stage 1 completed- thank to you staff and students for your patience whist we have the oval closed to allow the new grass to take hold on the oval. Hopefully we can have a portion of the oval open again by the end of next week. It is looking much better and hopefully a little rain will keep it growing. We will re-evaluate the condition at the end of term to determine if another round of work is required over the Christmas holiday period.
