Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL)
This week’s PBL focus is Being Responsible – the message presented on assembly by Mr Coyle and 4C students this morning focused on Finishing Strong. The video showed examples of students finishing strong with their class work, playing by the rules in the play time and at eating time. Finishing strong is about maintaining good routines right up until the end of term.
2020 Bring Your Own Device
At last week’s P&C meeting we presented our proposal for 2020 Bring Your Own Devices trial in our school. Year 4 has been selected as the Year level to begin the trial next year. Year 5 and 6 students will be supported to have their own individual school owned device. All other year levels will be supported by a pod of ipads.
Current Year 3 parents will be invited to attend an information in early term 4 in preparation for the coming year.
Thank you to all our parents for supporting the P&C fundraising which has enabled us to purchased additional ICT and STEM resources and equipment this year.
Data Review and Planning for Term 4
For this fortnight teachers have been working in year level teams to review student achievement and progress and plan for term 4. Last week I met with each year level team to determine trends in student data including strengths and areas for further development, intervention and extension. This week teachers have met with Rachael Siebuhr our Curriculum Coordinator to collaborative develop their term 4 assessment and planning units.

Obstathon
Last year we trialled the Colour Run and had so much fun. The staff and student decided that this year they still wanted to keep the Obstathon as part of the tradition of what we do at New Farm. So we will be holding this again in early term 4. More information will be sent out once the details have been finalised.
Community Spirit Awards – Tuesday 22 October 9:15am
The Community Spirit Awards were postponed until term 4 due to numerous other commitments with Master Planning and our Quadrennial School Review. Nominations are closed and invitations will be sent out to recipients in week 1 of term 4.
Happy and Safe Holidays
Students have worked hard throughout the term showing good progress and maintaining very good behaviour within our PBL framework. Students and staff have earned a well-deserved break. I hope all families find time to relax and recuperate during the September holidays.
Just a reminder that Monday 7 October is a public holiday and our first day of term 4 is Tuesday 8 October.
