Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL)
Congratulations to Ms Forsberg’s Year 1 class who were awarded the Kookie mascot and journal for this week. Year 1 F were commended for their excellent behaviour and effort throughout the week.
This week’s PBL focus is Being Safe in play areas – the message presented on assembly by Prep D this morning focused on (1) being sun safe – wearing hats at all times when outdoors, (2) staying hydrated – very important as we begin our very hot temperatures, and (3) playing safe games in school.
Canberra
Thank you to all our supervising staff who attended this year’s camp helping make it a great success for all our students. Well done to Ms Bradley, Mr Rafter, Ms Zyan AlAbidin, Mr Lawrence and Ms Siebuhr.

P&C meeting
Just a reminder that our P&C meeting is held in the library tonight at 6pm. All welcome to attend. As part of my principal’s report I will be presenting our proposal for 2020 Bring Your Own Devices trial in our school. Thank you to our STEM committee who have been working with STEM Coach John Rafter on this over the past few years. I will also be presenting an overview of this year’s NAPLAN highlights and identifying our areas of strength and development for 2020.
Pupil Free Day Monday 21 October - City Cluster Conference
Every 2nd year our staff attend our city cluster conference. Teacher will be attending a full day’s workshop at Windsor State School with guest speaker John Edwards and various workshops from teachers within the cluster. This year Teacher aides will also attend a program at Ascot SS with a program including supporting students with disability, as well as a range of other literacy and numeracy workshops on offer. Both encourage productive networking and sharing of ideas among cluster colleagues.
Weather alert
Today many areas are experiencing thick smoke and dust, particularly in the south and south-eastern parts. It is important that we take protective action in relation to these conditions, stay inside where possible and keep active watch on students, particularly those with respiratory conditions.
The school library has been made available for those students with respiratory issue.
Parents please ensure your emergency contact details are kept up to date.
