KWTSB

Kookie has once again been checking in on the students at NFSS, launching Kookie’s Walk to School Bus (KWTSB) on Assembly last week. Kookie’s walking bus is set to depart the New Farm Library tomorrow (Wednesday 24/7/19) at approximately 8am. If students are choosing to enter Kookie’s Scavenger Hunt competition and to be in the draw to win one of two $150 New Farm Cinema Gift Vouchers, all entries must be submitted prior to departure. Student leaders will be on hand to collect forms in the morning. Please remember the following guidelines for KWTSB:

- All students in Prep – Yr 3 must be supervised by a parent/carer
- No scooter or bikes – just walking feet
- Full school uniform, including hats must be worn
- Students must follow all directions from supervising adults (Volunteer supervisors will be wearing high-visibility vests)

PBL Focus

Each week our PBL Focus sits within our school rules: Be Safe; Be Respectful; Be Responsible; and Be a Learner. The weekly focus is introduced on Assembly and then followed up by classroom teachers during the week where students are explicitly taught what these expectations mean in different scenarios. This week’s focus is Being Safe when using the drop-off and pick-up zones. The key messages include:

Drop-Off Zone

Pick-up Zone

Ž Wait until the car comes to a complete stop before attempting to hop out of the car

Ž Exit the car on the pavement/passenger side of the vehicle

Ž Enter the car from the pavement/passenger side of the vehicle

Ž Wait until the car comes to a complete stop before attempting to hop in the car

Please help us reinforce these messages at home by talking to your children about our expectations when using the drop-off and pick-up zones in the mornings and afternoons here at NFSS.

School Opinion Survey

The School Opinion Survey is undertaken each year by the Department to obtain the opinions of parents/caregivers, students and school staff about the important aspects of schooling. The survey is designed to help school identify what they do well and what they can improve. Next week, survey slips will be issued to the eldest child in each family for the parent/caregiver survey – please keep your eye out for these. Student surveys will be completed in school time. All surveys will need to be completed by 23rd August 2019.
