Screen Time at Home
The challenge of managing screen time at home, is one that most parents face every day. There is growing evidence that more than two hours of screen time a day, including television, is associated with health risks.
The reduction of time on Smart phones and gaming devices, by parents can illicit very strong reactions from children who are struggling with devices that are deliberately designed to be addictive.
Reducing the screen time has shown to have a range of positive impacts for children including improved musculoskeletal fitness, mental health and wellbeing.
The fact sheet attached although aimed at teenagers contains some useful information relating to screen time
- Uniform
As New Farm is a uniform school, we request students wear only school jumpers in the cooler months. A significant number of students have also been wearing bows similar to the ones shown below. Although we don’t specify particular colours, these types of bows are not part of the school uniform and we would appreciate them being kept for weekends and evenings.
