Year 5 Emu Gully Camp
Last week our Year 5 students headed off to Emu Gully adventure camp near Gatton. It is a fabulous outdoor camp with some challenging team and individual activities. The students should be commended for their excellent behaviour and team spirit. Thank you to Mrs Fletcher, Mr Thakar, Ms Andrews and Mrs Holness for supporting the students during the camp and spending time away from their own families. It was a privilege to attend and get to know the students in a more relaxed setting, where I was able to observe the dynamics of interactions. Emu Gully teaches our students the importance of learning from mistakes and developing team skills. The Emu Gully staff were very well organised and provided valuable feedback to students on ways to improve team work contributions. The staff and I were extremely impressed by the maturity, resilience and positivity of the cohort.
Junior Sports - Prep-Year 3
Thank you to Mr Rainbow, staff and parents for supporting students during our P-3 annual event – Friday 08 August. We are hoping for good weather and a great day for our younger students. Parents are very welcomed and encouraged to attend – please check your class Dojo for times of your children’s events. Thank you to Mr Rainbow for all the behind-the-scenes organisation that went into creating a fun filled event for our junior classes. Students are encouraged to wear their Sports House Colours (Red - Binkinba, Yellow- Merthyr, or Green - Teneriffe).
Transition to Prep 2026
Our Pre-Prep events have begun, including weekly interviews and our Kookie Play Group sessions. Thank you to Mrs Krohn, Mrs Holness and Ms Keehan for organising and facilitating these sessions in Term 3 and 4. This is a valuable opportunity for new students and families to orientate themselves to school and meet friends and staff.
Flu Season
As you would realise, Flu season is upon us, and it is important to look after yourselves and take time to get well if sick. I have reminded staff to reinforce good hygiene messages with students such as always washing your hands with soap and water (including after using tissues, before and after eating and going to the toilet), and staying home when sick.
