Yr 3 – Looking at Living incursion
Last week, students from Yr 3 were involved with an incursion looking at how healthy habitats support life for plants and animals. They explored water samples from Enoggera creek to classify living, once living and non-living components.
Students were really engaged with hands-on activities analysing water sources. They showed genuine excitement when they identified various critters in the water. After identifying and counting the variety of life in water samples, students were able to establish the quality of the water source based on their observations. Students then discussed how human actions have an impact on our water ways.
Reporting
Recently, students have been completing a number of tasks to demonstrate their learning over the semester. They have been busily writing information reports, explaining the movement of shadows, planetary systems or earth’s movement in Science (various year levels) and understanding historical aspects of daily life and significant changes over time, to name just a few. Teachers will be evaluating students’ learning against Curriculum Achievement Standards and reporting in coming weeks.
