This past fortnight has been a very exciting place of learning. A variety of activities have occurred, including Under 8s Day and the Yr 4s incursion – What a Load of Rubbish.
During Under 8s day, our junior school were involved in a host of learning experiences such as painting and drawing with different tools and media, paper plane folding, yoga style movements and stretching along with games, puzzles, trains and blocks. These learning opportunities allow students to develop their creativity, think imaginatively and build social skills.
Year 4s had the opportunity to integrate Science, HASS, Literacy and Health subjects in their incursion to consider the impacts of waste on our environment and ways to build sustainability in our community. Students first investigated products breaking down in landfill and the impacts on health and the environment. They discussed how a community can attempt to reduce products going to landfill by directing waste to either recycling, reusing or composting. Following, students then proposed solutions for the school community and crafted persuasive arguments to present their ideas.
Book Fair
Thank you to the P&C and community for again running a successful Book Fair, followed by the disco. Our involvement with this event, not only gives students an opportunity to purchase new titles, but allows additional purchases to be made for the school – adding resources to our library and classrooms.
