This term, all classes in English have been appreciating literature. From Prep students who are sharing their favourite books and explaining their favourite parts, right through to Yr 6, who are identifying features and devices used by an author to engage an audience. Year 1s and 2s are deepening their understanding of character development, while Yr 4s and 5s are also including film in their appreciations, viewing short animated films and comparing novels to screen adaptations.

A new author to our school, Millie shared with 2H the book she authored, Hurricane Dancers then aged 6 ¾. This is “a heart-warming true picture book story about friends having a wild weather adventure at Bilgola Plateau Public School.” This recent addition to our library has been well received and will be available for loan. Year 2 will later have an experience of hearing from an author about her stories and how she creates characters based on real life circumstances.
