Curriculum

This week Year 3 and 5 students are participating in the annual NAPLAN program.  Thank you to Mr Curby and Ms Norman who are supporting Year 3 and 5 teachers as they conduct the annual testing.  All tests are online except for Year 3 writing which remains handwritten.

This week and week 10 teachers will also spend time in year level teams planning for term 2 and collaborating on assessment tasks.   

Well-being

Mrs Baker and Mrs Bradley have been supporting Year level teams in the implementation of our Second Steps program.  Our Peer Support program, which is led by our Year 6 students, begins next term and will run weekly for terms 2, 3 and 4. 

Cross Country

Thank you to Mr Rainbow for organising this year’s Cross-Country event for Years 3-6 at New Farm Park.  Congratulations to all students and staff for a wonderful event.  Thankfully the weather held out for the morning.

Year 6 Leadership Induction Ceremony

This Thursday we welcome our Year 6 families to our annual leaders’ ceremony where we present student leaders and captains with their badges.  The students have participated in their leadership development workshop and are actively involved in various leadership duties.  I congratulate all our 2024 recipients and trust their contributions will ensure New Farm State School continues to be a great school with positive leaders.

Year 6 Outdoor Camp

Next week our year 6 students and staff will attend Kindilan Adventure camp at Redland Bay.  This is a fantastic opportunity to learn about outdoor pursuits and build their teamwork and leadership skills.  The outdoor experiences are both fun and challenging and staff will encourage everyone’s full participation to make the most of this opportunity for learning and personal growth. Thank you to supervising staff Ms Eurell, Mrs Baker, Mr Jones, Mrs Fletcher and Ms Zayn Al Abidin for giving us their time to ensure the camp is possible.
