Deputy Principal
Daily Writing
Daily writing is one of our signature practices, at New Farm. Every class uses text or illustrations as stimuli and then students write for a short period of time, every day. Last week, the whole school used the same stimulus, provided by Ms Davis. The 3D audio, visual piece prompted some wonderfully imaginative writing. I have included two pieces from 6F, by Abby Logan and Oscar McAllister.
Heal Street
We have had a few parents and members of the community concerned about parking, double parking and general traffic management in Heal Street. I have directed these concerns to the council, as this area is under their jurisdiction.
In March, representatives from the council, police, school, P&C and the Transport & Main Roads Department, will be reviewing and drafting a Safe School Traffic Management Plan that will look at signage, drop off zones, parking etc. all around the school.
Meantime, we will continue to manage our designated drop off and pick up zone which is in Annie Street and encourage parents to use this area.
A reminder that the pick up zone is staffed until 3.20 p.m. and drivers can arrive up to this time.
Harmony Day - 22nd March
We are really looking forward to our annual Harmony Day Parade. Students have nominated the flag they would like to walk behind. If you or your family would like to represent your culture musically at the end of the parade please contact Kay Bradley for more details kbrad27@eq.edu.au
Parade timing details to come.
