Ms Annette Twiddle (Teacher Aide), Ms Karen Matheson (Admin) and Ms Blackadder (Teacher) will continue on leave until the end of the year. Mr Hayden Lawrence will continue as class teacher for Year 6B for the remainder of the year. I thank Mrs Wright and Mrs Lamb for their dedication to our students and school and wish them every success in their future ventures. I will be on Long Service Leave for week 1 of term 3 with Mrs Kay Bradley Acting Principal for the period.
Sports Days
Thank you to Mr Kent Rainbow, Mr Hayden Lawrence and all staff who helped organise and facilitate the track and field events for this year’s athletics days. Field events on the oval and memorial area last week were a huge success and Year 4-6 had a wonderful day of activity. This week Yr 3-6 students and staff are at Windsor Park for the annual Athletics day competition. It was great to see the students and staff supporting and wearing their House Colours and showing excellent participation and sportsmanship.
School Review
As part of our Quadrienniel School Review cycle, we will be participating in a review in Tuesday 29 Auust to Thursday 31 August this year. For those of you who have been through a school review you will know that this is a chance for an external team of educators to speak with staff, families, students and our school networks and to review our documentation so as to give us an independent report on what we are doing well and suggestion for our next 4 year Strategic Direction. This informs the development of our School Strategic Plan. Further information will be coming as we get closer to the review date. See attached a facts sheet on the school review.
Semester 1 Report Cards
Student report cards will be emailed home in this last week of term from Thursday 22 June. Thank you to Ms Norman and Mr Curby for coordinating this year’s process.
Prep ’24 Enrolments
At end of Term 2 we have 25 confirmed enrolments. We continue interviews in Term 3 with another 20 awaiting confirmation. Please encourage any families with prep aged children to get their enrolments in as soon as possible as we hope to conduct the majority of interviews in Term 3. This is an essential part of predicting student numbers, allocating staffing and forming classes for 2024.
- Term 3 – Pre-Prep Playgroup will run for 6 weeks and a ‘Tour of the School’ for prospective families will be arranged.
- Term 4 - Pre-Prep Playgroup will run for 6 weeks
Inclusive Education - Nationally Consistent Collection of Data (NCCD)
The NCCD is a needs-based model of supporting students with disability in alignment with both the Disability Discrimination Act (1992) and the Disability Standards for Education (2005). Education Queensland’s Inclusion Policy also aligns with these key policies and gives guidance to how we develop our inclusive practices at New Farm SS. Our Inclusion Coach Cath Eurell is leading the annual data gathering for NCCD and integrates this work as part of our regular consultation and support processes. The main aspects include:
- knowing our students well,
- identifying the characteristics of individuals through consultation with students, parents or carers, specialists and teachers,
- identifying the impacts on access and participation in school,
- identifying the barriers which a person’s disability may have on their learning and participation, and
- developing adjustments to the curriculum, teaching strategies and assessments to support and enable every student to participate on the same basis as students who do not have a disability.
