Trivia Night was another spectacular success with a huge crowd, colourful costumes and plenty of fun had by all. I am so grateful to our P&C members who coordinated and organised the event down to the smallest detail. A huge thanks to:
Organisers - Natalie Chin and Michelle Logan
Fundraising and Sponsorship – George Gallantree, Dahna Gallantree, and Rachel Frizzo
Bar organisers – Lyn Moore and Fiona Canigila
Teneriffe Festival
Thank you to all staff and parents involved in supporting our student groups at the recent Teneriffe festival. Thank you especially to Bec Davis for coordinating the choir, Michelle from Creative Dance for coordinating the dance group, and Peter Curby for organising the school pop up stall. Thank you also to other staff who supported on the day: Lesley Burridge, Annabel DeBoer, Vatsal Thacker, Fatima Zayn Al Abidin and Kay Bradley.
Student Engagement – Over the next half of this term, we will be revisiting some of our Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) important school expectations. All staff will be using the language and focus of our PBL – Be Respectful, Be Responsible, Be Safe and Be a Learner. These are important foundations for our students at New Farm SS. Other areas of student engagement are ‘Second Step Well-Being Program’ and ‘Teach Like a Champion’ strategies. You will be hearing more about these across the year.
Inclusion and Extension
Thank you to Ms Andrews for coordinating the ‘Girls In Tech’ program. A positive initiative supporting our students. Thanks to Mrs Kemph for her work with Optiminds and the junior school MIniFestival extension program.
Reporting in English for students with English as a Second Language
Students learning English as an Additional Language or Dialect (EAL/D) in their first 12 months of Australian schooling can be exempt from the 5-point scale reporting requirement. These students will instead receive a ‘N’ rating as the level of achievement in the English learning area with a written comment based on their English language proficiency.

Congratulations to all Year 5 and 6 students involved in the City Collective High Achievers Program at Kelvin Grove College this year. The final session is this week with parents and school staff invited for the celebration event Wednesday 07 June 4pm.
