Prep Play Dates

A great time was had by all during our play dates. Welcome to our new Preppies for 2023 and their families. Thanks to Dahna Galantree and Rachael Archer for being our parent volunteers during the play dates. Not only is this a great opportunity for parents to meet other current parents, but it was wonderful to have the extra hand to set up the activities.

Our Open Morning for new families will be held this Thursday 27th October 9:00-10:30am. The agenda for the morning has been emailed to our new families. We look forward to seeing you there.

Transition Statements

Give kindy the tick

Starting school is an important milestone in your child's life.

The transition to Prep is a critical time, both exciting and challenging, and a positive start supports your child’s confidence and ongoing learning success.

Transition statements contain valuable information about your child's learning and development at kindergarten as well as suggestions for supporting their continued learning at school.

Kindergarten teachers develop the transition statement in November with input from parents/carers and children.

When shared with the new school, transition statements assist us in planning for the continuity of learning and wellbeing of your child.

If your child attended a kindergarten program ensure you tick the kindergarten box in the previous education activity section on the school enrolment form. This will help us to understand your child’s prior learning experiences.

Together, let’s make the big moves smaller.

State Education Week

State Education Week, Monday 24 October to Friday 28 October, is an annual event that showcases and celebrates Queensland state schools. The theme for 2022 is "Realising the potential of every student". Teachers, parents, school staff and community members all play a part in guiding students to reach their potential. State schools are an ‘education family’, all working together with the common goal of the best outcomes for our students.

New Farm State School prides itself on realising the potential for every student, and every student succeeding. Currently 93.5% of our students receive a C or higher for English, 96.3% for Maths, and 97.9% for Science. Our students have reached the National Minimum Standards in NAPLAN for all test areas.
