The 7 RIGHTS of safe medication administration are based on best practice and following them reduces the risk of errors occurring.

Before you administer medications to students, make sure you know the 7 RIGHTS:

1. Have you got the RIGHT documentation? Check before and record after.

2. Do you have the RIGHT student?

3. Do you have the RIGHT medication?

4. Are you administering the RIGHT dose?

5. Are you administering the medication via the RIGHT route?

6. Are you administering the medication at the RIGHT time?

7. Are you storing and disposing of medication in the RIGHT way?
