Active School Travel

 

In conjunction with Brisbane City Council’s Active School Travel program, we are able to offer free scooter skills and bike skills training for our middle year students.

Scooter Skills – Year 2 & 3 Students

Year 2 and 3 students are invited to participate on Monday 5 September, in school time. All participants are to bring their own scooter and helmet. All details of the event and how to register are at this link. Registrations close Thursday 25 August:

Bike Skills – Year 4 & 5 Students

CLASSES 2023 

 

We will soon be starting the process of forming 2023 classes.   This process is complex and follows this process:

 

  1. Students nominate up to five of their year level peers, who they would like to be in a 2023 class with. Out of this group each student is guaranteed one of their preferences.

 

  1. Parents have an opportunity to submit information relating to their child’s learning, personality clashes and important family information. Parent input is welcomed, not essential and requests are not guaranteed. Do not send information at this point.

 

  1. Teachers meet as a year level group and work to input data of students who do not work well together.

 

  1. Class lists are drafted.

 

  1. Class lists are reviewed and checked for balance of gender, English as a second language, academic ability, learning difficulties, medical issues and other challenges. 

 

  1. Teachers review class lists and adjustments are made.

 

  1. Leadership team review class lists and make necessary adjustments.

 

  1. Lists are cross checked to ensure each child has one nominated friend.

 

  1. If possible, parent requests are considered and adjustments made.

 

  1. Students meet their 2023 class and teacher for one session near the end of term 4. Prep 2023 students are notified via email of their Prep class.
