Science of Glass
This week we are celebrating National Science Week at New Farm State school. Each year, there is a theme, and this year’s theme is GLASS.
National Science Week is Australia’s annual opportunity to meet scientists, discuss the hot topics, do science and celebrate its cultural and economic impact on society.
We have been running sessions out of the new STEM room where we will be learning all about glass. Classes that attend learn about the properties of glass, and how it is made and used. In addition, students experience the making of sugar glass.
The festival is proudly supported by the Australian Government; partners CSIRO, the Australian Science Teachers Association and the ABC; and media sponsor Cosmos.
National Science Week 2022 will run from 13-21 August. Event details can be found at www.scienceweek.net.au.
