P&C News
Trivia Night - Thank you to all our parents who have contributed to this year’s Trivia Night being held this Saturday 20 August, especially to key organisers Natalie Chin, Michelle Logan, Kelly D’Alessandro and Tania Shapiro for all their many hours of preparation for the event. It is sure to be another fun filled night and a great fundraiser for our school community.
Year 6 Student Legacy Project – Thank you to P&C for supporting this year’s project with a donation towards the purchase of river stones which Year 6 students will have engraved with their names and then embedded into the Little Farm dry creek bed. Thank you to Ms Zayn Al Abidin, Year 6 project captains and the Kelvin Grove Year 11 Mentors who supported the project.
Workplace Health and Safety
Thank you to everyone for your patience with our restricted grounds. The students and staff have done remarkably well with the limitations on play spaces as works are in process. At our facilities meeting this week we have the following update:
- Memorial / C Block area – over the next 2 days the area will remain fenced off as concrete from under C Block is removed. Once this is complete the fence will be reduced to only around the C Block footprint. The artificial turf will be laid Thursday and Friday next week and then the area will be completed and reopened.
- The covered walkway between A Block and B Block – fencing will be reduced today to ensure only the footprint of the walkway is fence and this will open up the playspace for students. The electricals are due for completion at the end of next week and then final fencing will be removed.
- The prep playspace – this is nearing completion with ground covers now underway. This area is also linked to the opening of the new promenade and school pick up zone area in Annie Street which is also nearing completion. We anticipate this full area will be completed and open for students by beginning of term 4.
- T Block – currently the area is fenced as it is being dismantled and will be sectioned and craned out on Saturday 20 August with the Heal Street area scheduled for closure during this time. Neighbours have been informed.
- Oval – following the removal of T Block, the crane will be removed from the oval and work will then begin on the resurfacing of the oval. Unfortunately, at this stage, it is likely the oval will be out of use for the majority of term 4. However, the rest of the areas will then we opened up and available for use.
Newsletter Term 4 – As of term 4 we will be publishing the newsletter once per fortnight. The main modes of communication will remain the website, newsletter and schoolzine emails, and dojo. If you wish to provide feedback on the change in term 4, please email newsletter@newfarmss.eq.edu.au

We are currently undertaking Prep Interviews with 62 already enrolled. Please encourage any families who are yet to submit their prep applications to do so as soon as possible. In Term 4 we have planned a number of play dates (see flyer) and an open morning for parents and new preppies on Thursday 27 October. Thank you to HOD Mrs Judy Loudon and Teacher Aide Jo Keehan for coordinating the play dates. Any parents who wish to help out should email admin@newfarmss.eq.edu.au as soon as possible.
