Building Update
E Block classrooms will be operational from Monday 11 July, map attached in the facilities update. F Block Reception and first aid rooms will be operational from Monday 11 July for late slips and early student pick up. Our drop off and pick up zones will remain in Heal Street for Term 3. We will update this closer to the change over to our new procedures.
The Annie street promenade entrance will be closed temporarily whilst Paynters complete the student pick up zone and certifcations on the outside areas.
Prep ’23 Enrolment interviews
At end of Term 2 we have 26 prospective enrolments. We begin interviews in Term 3. Please encourage any families with prep aged children to get their enrolments in as soon as possible as we hope to conduct the majority of interviews in Term 3. This is an essential part of predicting student numbers, allocating staffing and forming classes for 2023.
Inclusive Education - Nationally Consistent Collection of Data (NCCD)
The NCCD is a needs-based model of supporting students with disability in alignment with both the Disability Discrimination Act (1992) and the Disability Standards for Education (2005). Education Queensland’s Inclusion Policy also aligns with these key policies and gives guidance to how we develop our inclusive practices at New Farm SS. Our Inclusion Coach Cath Eurell is leading the annual data gathering for NCCD and integrates this work as part of our regular support processes. The main aspects include:
- knowing our students well,
- identifying the characteristics of individuals through consultation with students, parents or carers, specialists and teachers,
- identifying the impacts on access and participation in school,
- identifying the barriers which a person’s disability may have on their learning and participation, and
- developing adjustments to the curriculum, teaching strategies and assessments to support and enable every student to participate on the same basis as students who do not have a disability.
Pillar Champion Awards
At this week's assembly we will recognise staff and students who have been nominated as doing excellent work in the areas of Inclusion, Innovation, Curriculum and Well-Being. Award recipients will be posted on dojo and will receive a special badge for one of these pillars.
