Year 6 Camp

Our Year 6 staff and students headed off this morning for 3 days at Moreton Island.  I am pleased the covid impacts have not restricted this year’s camp proceeded as planned.  Hopefully they will have fine weather and a wonderful adventure.  Thank you to all staff who have given up their family time to plan and attend the camp this year.

Planning Days

Head Of Department (Curriculum) Ms Loudon is working with year levels teachers in this last fortnight to plan term 2 curriculum units.  The planning sessions focus on teachers collaboratively developing assessment tasks and marking guides to ensure consistency across year levels.  This term moderation focus areas are Maths and Technology.  Innovation Coach Mr Peter Curby is working with teachers to guide them through the Technology curriculum. Peter has good experience to share in coding and design process.

Staffing update

Congratulations to Ms Cath Eurell who has now been appointed to the Inclusion Coach position.  Cath has fantastic experience and qualifications in disability and inclusion, with particular special interest in well-being and trauma informed practice and brain aware strategies.  I am very pleased that Cath will continue working with our staff and community to develop and improve our inclusive practices.

Pillar Champion Awards

Our New Farm State School vision is to actively and responsibly pursue, promote and maintain a safe, respectful and inclusive learning environment for all. Our school community has been working with the pillars of our strategic plan including:

  • Curriculum
  • Inclusion
  • Innovation
  • Wellbeing

We have many superstars and champions within our school’s students, staff and families. We are starting to celebrate the work done in each of these pillars. This work makes sure that our students have a life of choice rather than a life of chance. As this term ends, we are formalising our acknowledgement of this work, starting with our staff and students at next week’s Wednesday morning assembly. Recipients will be awarded a certificate and an official badge which we hope they will proudly wear to school. Later this year we will be also acknowledging parents/carers for their work with these pillars.
