Our year 6 band instrumental music student Emily and her trusty mallets attended the selective Northside Honours Music Workshops in week 3. 3 days of intense concert band and choir rehearsals, directed by some of Brisbane's finest conductors, in the "old museum" culminated in a mix of dynamic and sensitive performances on the famous stage.

Both our Senior and Junior concert bands shone at the recent Music Fest. In the adjudicator's words "this ensemble (junior band) sound is developing and projecting well and you are starting to phrase and connect the rhythms" and for the Senior band "Great ensemble pulse and the ensemble understands all the musical elements....articulations and dynamics were observed and executed".

To achieve a bronze award despite the lack of rehearsals really demonstrates the musicality of all students involved. Special thanks to all students, parents, and Dan Quigley, who works with the Junior band, for enabling this performance to happen.
