Coming up next term we have Book Week in week 7!

This year the theme is ‘Old Worlds, New Worlds, Other Worlds’ and we will have our usual dress up parade during week 7. We also have author Dr Cameron Stelzer coming to the school on Thursday 26th July who will be conducting workshops with students from all year levels. There will also be activities in the library all week to celebrate Book Week. Further details will be coming next term.

Dorothea Mackellar Poetry Competition

Library - Poetry Competition.png

Students have until June 30 which is the first Wednesday of the school holidays to submit their creative poems online in the annual Dorothea Mackellar Poetry competition for school children.

Online submission – Detailed instructions on how to enter student’s poems are on the Dorothea Mackellar website. Please use the login alamb105@eq.edu.au and password: newfarm.

"Our poets are encouraged to take inspiration from wherever they may find it, however if they are looking for some direction, competition participants are invited to use this year's optional theme to inspire their entries."

‘In 2021, the Dorothea Mackellar Memorial Society has chosen the theme “Rich and Rare.” As always, it is an optional theme, so please write about whatever topic sparks your poetic genius.’

Creative poetry could be a wonderful activity for those students who are keen and capable writers, looking for a challenge!

Thanks to those who have already submitted some interesting poetry. Well done!

Happy Reading and Learning!

Mrs Lamb
