2021 Prep Enrolments – Classroom Visit

It was a pleasure to welcome our 2021 Preppies to our classrooms today where they were able to have fun and familiarise themselves with our school and get to know our Prep teachers.  Thank you to all our parents who have been so supportive of our new approach this year and who have accessed our information and school tour virtually, thanks to Mr Fenton and staff.

        NAIDOC Week 8-15 November 2020

        Happy NAIDOC Week.

NAIDOC week is celebrated every year and highlights the rich and diverse cultures of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. For First Nations Peoples, NAIDOC week is a celebration of community, and is an opportunity to celebrate and acknowledge the many histories and cultures, customs and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

        naidoc

2020’s NAIDOC theme is “Always Was, Always Will Be” which recognises the First Nations Peoples who, for more than 65 000 years, have always occupied and cared for this great country. Our First Nations Peoples are the custodians of customary knowledge and lore - they keep the wisdom and customs alive for our future generations.

School Term Finishing Early – Parents in case you did not hear the announcement by government, the schools are finishing early this year.  Our last day of term for 2020 is Wednesday 09 December at 3pm.

We will finish with our traditional guard of honor to farewell our Year 6 students and we invite all parents to attend for this special activity.  Parents should arrive at 2:55pm and are reminded to social distance while standing in and around the school grounds.

        Year 6 Graduation Dinner

This Thursday night families join to celebrate the Year 6 graduation.  This event is organized by our Yr 6 parents and is a highlight for the children, families and staff as they reflect on their time at New Farm SS.  I am very grateful to all the organizing committee for their time and effort in ensuring this is a special night.  Thank you to Penny Glasson, Iain Morris and Jo Walker, Kate Gaffney and Katrina Wallwork.

        P&C – Thank you

Thank you to our dedicated P&C committee for their support and dedication throughout 2020.  Last week we held our final meeting for the year.  I would like to acknowledge the extra responsibilities of our executive members:  President David Armstong, Vice President Sheroo Wadia, Secretary Louise Ware and Treasurer Lindi Deguara. Our Executive is a wonderful group who work for the best interests of all our students and school community and we would be lost without them.  Thank you so much.
