Science Week 2020: The Deep Blue Innovation for the Future of our Oceans

Recently, we celebrated National Science Week at New Farm State School. The theme this year was all about engaging students in ocean science and supporting young people to be active and aware of science-driven research.

We have many interesting science projects underway across all year levels – from understanding our impact on the ocean, marine life and its importance in the eco-system.  To get our students active and engaged in our environment through science, the year 6 students are exploring environmental conditions that affect the growth and survival of living things, including the best conditions that grow yeast and mould.

 Isobel (6B) and Emelia (6B) have been having fun exploring the characteristics of climate such as temperature, wind, humidity and precipitation and looking at the effects these elements have on living things.
