Parent/Teacher Telephone Interviews
Parents who would like a telephone interview with their child’s class teacher should contact them directly, using the appropriate email address below. Due to the limited number of lines available, teachers will allocate you a specific time and date and will make the outgoing calls to parents.
The 10 minute call will be focussed on clarifying report cards and discussing next steps. We remind parents that one call is allocated per student.
If you have had a recent meeting with your child’s teacher, to discuss the report card, we respectively ask you do not request a telephone interview at this time.

Year 1 Starlab Incursion
Starlab Education provides inspiring astronomy and earth science presentations throughout Queensland and we were lucky enough to have them visit our year 1 classes this week! Fully trained presenters brought along the ‘Cosmodome Science Theatre & Planetarium’ pictured here, to provide us with an educational and exhilarating learning experience designed to meet requirements of the Australian National Curriculum.
Spark their Future
With the right support, you can grow that spark inside your child. As your child’s confidence grows, and with your help, they will feel ready to keep their learning on track. To support parents and carers of young people, the department has released the evidence-based Spark their Future website. This website provides engaging, non-confronting information and support to help parents keep their child engaged with learning and education pathways.

We are very pleased to tell you that New Farm State School raised $137.50 for The 3rd Space Homeless shelter on Brunswick Street, New Farm. This will go toward life’s essential items on cold winter nights. Well done to everyone who tried to guess the number of jellybeans in the jar. There were 689 jellybeans in the jar and the closest ticket number was 15 tickets away and was number 704 purchased by Abby G. Congratulations to Abby and her family who have won a gift certificate kindly donated by Michelle Wilde (Gus, Jack and Ned’s Mum) from Great Escapes for a family of four to travel to Mombasa in Africa, Phuket in Thailand or Bali in Indonesia. Amazing work Community and Charity Project members!

Queensland Road Safety Week 24-28 August
When we’re behind the wheel, driving safely should be our number one priority. You might be surprised to know that dangerous habits like tailgating, not giving way, and running red lights, contributed to half of all serious crashes in Queensland.
The Fatal 5 (speeding, mobile phone distraction, drink driving, fatigue and not wearing a seatbelt) also contributed to over one third of serious crashes where people were seriously injured or lost their life, from 2014 to 2018.
What can you do? Qld Road Safety week is around the corner! Show your support by kicking those bad driving habits and make our roads a safer place for everyone. Check out the StreetSmarts website for a range of activities and resources https://streetsmarts.initiatives.qld.gov.au/
Resources include:
Find-a-word, colouring poster, hand waver flags and bunting, DIY mini road signs, posters and other media messaging (Please send out to all teachers for use) https://streetsmarts.initiatives.qld.gov.au/tools-and-resources/tagged/road-safety-week#items
