Dr Carmel McGrath
Welcome back to term 3. I hope all families have enjoyed a relaxing holiday and students are now refreshed and ready for another great term. It will be a very busy one with various excursions, camps and special events such as our PBL Launch and our annual Community Spirit Awards.
Under 8s Day
On the last day of Term 2, students in Prep – Yr 2 celebrated Under 8s Day. Congratulations and thank you to all of the teachers, student leaders, big buddies and parent helpers for not only your help and enthusiasm on the day but for the many hours of preparation and organisation leading up to the day. The students participated in a huge range of activities from playing balloon tennis; exploring green screen technology; getting creating with playdough and paint; making paper planes; having fun with hoola hooping and traversing the obstacle course; designing and eating fruit faces; getting messy in the sensory garden; threading beautiful necklaces; and manipulating and creating with clay – just to name a few of the activities! The morning was finished off with a very loud and very fun disco J We hope everyone involved enjoyed the morning – it was certainly a fabulous way to end the term and to celebrate early years of education. We can’t wait for next year!

Staffing Updates
Term 3 – Ms Rachael Siebuhr continues in the Deputy Principal role during Mrs Kay Bradley’s long service leave for the first 2 weeks of this term. Ms Eliza Horn is replacing Mr Rainbow for his leave for the first 6 weeks of this term.
Mr Wilson is currently on leave this term and Mr Trevor Cohen is replacing this week. We are currently awaiting confirmation of a replacement teacher for the remainder of term and parents will be informed as we finalise arrangements.
Mini-Festivals
This week our Year 4 high achieving students will begin their involvement in a range of extension activities with other City Cluster school students. The mini festival includes extension in areas of writing, science, visual artists, coding, media artists and design thinkers. Thank you to parents for transporting children to the events which will run over a number of weeks this term.
Minister’s Visit
This Friday Minister Grace will be visiting our school to view the upgrade of our oval and play facilities. We are very pleased with the upgrade and grateful to the Minister for the grant which enabled the work to be completed.
Acting Deputy Principal Ms Rachael Siebuhr
Welcome back – it has certainly been a chilly start to Term 3.
With the gusty winds and lower morning temperatures it is important for all students to remember to wear their school jumpers each day. We have many year levels heading out on excursions and camps over the coming weeks and the correct full school uniform is required on these days. We have a huge mound of named jumpers, hats and other belongings in Lost Property at the moment – please stop by to check if any items can be claimed.
PBL News
Kookie has been extremely busy floating around the school and visiting special events over the last month or so. We will be officially launching Kookie in the coming weeks so please keep an eye out for the date claimer coming soon.
Our staff have developed a series of expectations that they address each week around the themes of being Safe, Respectful, Responsible and Being a Learner. Students are explicitly taught what these expectations mean in different scenarios. This week we are focussed on Being Respectful and Responsible when using the toilets. The key messages include expectations around movement to and from the toilets (ie. go with a buddy, walk straight there and straight back to class), behaviour in the toilets (ie. use the toilet how a toilet is intended to be used, wash hands with soap, dry hand with paper towel, place paper towel in waste bins provided) and be respectful when others are in toilets (ie. waiting patiently).
Kookie’s Walk to School Bus
Next Wednesday sees the maiden voyage of Kookie’s Walk to School Bus. Congratulations to Trey for instigating this great initiative. Our Adopt-A-Cop, Senior Constable Amanda Joy was on hand at this week’s assembly to cover some of road safety rules and is looking forward to jumping on Kookie’s Walking Bus throughout the term. It would be great to get as many parent volunteers as possible to help each week. Please see attached documents for more information.
100 Days of Learning
Later this week the Prep students celebrate 100 days of learning in Prep. We would like to congratulate them on being 100 days smarter and hope they enjoy their celebrations and continue to work hard in class. Well done Preppies!
Typing Club
Are you interested in improving your typing skills? We host a Typing Club every Tuesday morning from 8.15-8.45am in the Computer Lab. Students are to see their class teacher to receive a Typing Club password prior to attending. No need to book in - we would love to see you there.
