2024 Student Leadership Process
Congratulations to all our successful students, who are listed below. It was a credit to all students involved that they were so enthusiastic and resilient during the process. Our final selection of successful candidates is a very worthy group. Well done to all.
As in all previous years, a badge ceremony for all school leaders will take place at the end of Term 1 with date to be advised early in 2024.
P&C Fete
We are all looking forward to our fete this weekend which is an exciting event for our whole community. I am incredibly grateful to the many wonderful parents in our fete organising group and to all the parent helpers who are contributing time and goods for the various stalls or fundraising. Being our first fete since covid, it is an extra special occasion and I encourage everyone to come along, support our school with this fun filled event. A special mention to our fete organisers: Daniel Sweeting, Carolina Puleston, Sally Falkinder, Annalisa Toole, Anais Gould, Royce Crown, Paul Donatiu, Rachel Frizzo and Dahna Gallantree.

Uniform Reminders
Just a reminder that any earrings worn to school, should be small studs or hoops. More elaborate earrings should be for evenings and weekends. Headbands should also be plain and if possible, in school colours.
We do have headlice outbreaks from time to time. Tying long hair back, is part of our uniform policy but also helps reduce the spread of headlice.
Phones and Smart Watches from 2024
Education Queensland has announced that from 2024, all EQ school will be personal device free. This brings consistency to all Australian schools and supports our policy already in place.
Our existing policy around mobile phones and smart watches is that students must hand them into the office at the beginning of the day and collect them at 3 p.m. A Smartwatch is any capable of taking photographs and or communication. This applies, even if a device is set in school mode. Thank you for your support in helping to maintain a strong focus on educational achievement, and student wellbeing and engagement, by:
- providing optimal learning and teaching environments, free from the distractions caused by personal use of mobile phones and wearable devices
- supporting us to create safe and supportive learning environments that prioritise student engagement and wellbeing
- encouraging increased face-to-face social interactions between students
- promoting the health and wellbeing of students by providing opportunities for social interaction and physical activity during break times
- reducing the potential for students to be exposed to the negative impacts of the digital world resulting from unsafe or inappropriate use of technology, such as cyberbullying, accessing harmful content or breaches of personal privacy.

QParents
We kindly ask that all NFSS families register with QParents.
QParents is a parent portal that we are progressing towards making our one-stop-shop platform for parents. Recent upgrades to the functionality of QParents, means that it will become a portal for permissions for school excursions.
QParents is available via either a website or a handy app, which enables fast access to pay multiple invoices at once and provide multiple permissions at once.

Christmas Tree Decoration
Our classes have all been busy with their class contribution to the NFFE Fete. For the Christmas/festive theme, each class has been given a Christmas tree to decorate together and it will then be used as their class contribution on fete day to help decorate the fete with a festive feel! Trees in good condition will be donated to the community post-fete.
Look out of your class tree on fete day! ??
Here is one lovely example from Ms Burridge’s Prep B class – they’ve used pictures of the students and painted pinecones they’ve found! Nice work, Prep B ??
