Staffing Update
Thank you to Mrs Loudon for her work as Acting Deputy during Mrs Bradley’s leave. Staff and students were very pleased to welcome Mrs Bradley back last Thursday. Post Day 8 we have now confirmed and finalised all teachers, support staff and other non-teaching positions for 2023.
Look Out Program
Thank you to students who are waiting so respectfully each afternoon in the Annie Street pick up zone. Prompt arrival and clearly displayed name tags in cars, are really assisting in this area working well for all.
Look out registration form.pdf
The one issue I would like to see improved is the pedestrian crossing on Annie Street. Unfortunately, some parents are still crossing the road with their children at the bottom of the stairs and going between cars. This is very dangerous and distracting for staff who are trying to help students get into cars using the pick-up zone. My main concern is that students should be learning to use the designated school crossing and not cross between cars. Thank you for your cooperation in this area.
Evacuation and Lockdown Drills for Term 1
Each term we conduct both Evacuation and Lockdown drills in our school. Last week we held our evacuation drill. I commended the staff and students for the orderliness with which they proceeded to the evacuation assembly point on the oval. It was very impressive for only a few weeks into the year and our preppies did a wonderful job. This week we will conduct our Lockdown drill where staff and students remain in classrooms during the drill. If you arrive on site during this drill, please be patient and wait outside the administration area until the drill is completed.
Eco Marines – Clean Up Day Friday 03 March
Mrs Blackadder’s Eco Marine students will be involved in coordinating our clean up schools activities for Friday. Thank you to all our Class Eco Marine representative who have also shown great interest in joining the project group.
P&C Wednesday 01 March in Hall 6-8pm – all welcome
Year 6 Leadership Ceremony – Monday 06 March - 9:15am-10:30am in Hall
Year 6 Parents and families are invited to attend this year’s Leadership Ceremony where students will receive their Year 6 leadership badges and recite their oaths for the school and parent audience. Please ensure students are dressed in full school uniform and presented neatly for the event. We look forward to seeing you all there and celebrating the induction of our 2023 School Leaders.
City Collective Principals’ Conference
This Thursday 02 and Friday 03 March, I will be attending the Brisbane City Collective Schools Conference. Our focus is on 2023 collaborative leadership, staff moderation, networks and student extension programs across the collective of schools. Mrs Bradley will be Acting Principal during my absence.
Daily Writing
It has been lovely to see some of the writing our students have been doing as part of Daily Writing. This week the whole school has been looking at this 3D stimulus and writing. I’ve included a piece from Evie in Year 3.
Uniform Reminder
Just a reminder that any earrings worn to school, should be small studs or hoops. More elaborate earrings should be for evenings and weekends.

On Thursday, 16th February, the Community and Charity Project group ran our first event on the calendar for 2023, where students wore blue to raise funds for the AEIOU Foundation. With their Mission statement being To Enhance The Lives Of Children With Autism And Their Families, AEIOU enables early intervention support for children with Autism. Thanks to the community’s support, we raised $525.
