IMPORTANT NOTICES
What if my child is unwell?
Any child who is showing signs of illness or feeling unwell, must stay at home.
If a child is showing signs of illness at school, the school will contact the parent or carer to collect the child.
Drills
As part of our routine emergency drills we will be conducting a lockdown drill this week. These drills give us regular opportunities to review protocols we would need, in the highly unlikely event of having to ‘lockdown’ in classrooms and office spaces.
NAPLAN Testing
Thanks to Mr Curby and the year 3 and 5 teachers for providing such smooth, stress free access to the NAPLAN testing. Students have responded very well to the online platforms.
P&C
Our 2022 P&C met for the first time last night. It was exciting to hear some of their plans; both strategic and social for the year ahead. The P&C will meet on the 3rd Tuesday of every month in A block at 6 p.m. and welcome all parents and caregivers to coming along. Watch out for further communication from the P&C via website and dojo.

For students absent during week 4, there will be catch up arrangements made for them to complete the tests during week 5.
NAPLAN assesses literacy and numeracy skills that students have already learnt through the school curriculum. Teachers will ensure that students are familiar with the test formats and will provide appropriate support and guidance. Excessive preparation is not useful and can lead to unnecessary anxiety. If you have any questions about your child's preparation for NAPLAN, please make a time to speak with your child's teacher. NAPLAN tests are constructed to give students an opportunity to demonstrate skills they have learnt over time through the school curriculum, and NAPLAN test days should be treated as just another routine event on the school calendar. The best way you can help your child prepare for NAPLAN is to reassure them that NAPLAN tests are just one part of their school program, and to advise them to simply do the best they can on the day. ACARA does not recommend the use of commercial products, such as booklets and practice tests, to help your child prepare for NAPLAN tests. None of the commercial products currently on the market were endorsed by ACARA. The use of services by coaching providers is not recommended.
Further information regarding NAPLAN can be found at- https://nap.edu.au/naplan/parent-carer-support/

This will enable us to run through our own school grounds later in the year when we anticipate less building obstruction, and can avoid the travel to New Farm soccer fields area.
