Staffing Update:
Congratulations to Nick Fenton for winning the Principal Advisor STEM role in Central Office. Nick has been invaluable in his Innovation role here, but we wish him all the best for this exciting opportunity in semester 1. The Expression Of Interest for the Innovation Coach role has been advertised and selection will be announced prior to the end of this term. Congratulations to also Gabriel Ramos and Rebekah Davis who have now been appointed permanently to New Farm SS staff for 2022.
P&C 2021:
As we draw to the end of another very busy year, I wish to acknowledge the efforts of our P&C executive Louise Ware, Sheroo Wadia, Sarah Brady and Rachel Williams. It is always a pleasure working with our dedicated team of parents and I commend their enthusiasm and willingness to contribute so readily to the commitments throughout the year. This year the P&C have supported the implementation of the Beeston Street Community Garden, organised fundraisers, special events for our students and staff, supported strategic planning and resourcing of school initiatives, as well as sharing information with both parents and the school. Thank you also to all subcommittees or working groups who have volunteered and supported the gardens, tuckshop, swim club and our new build consultation.

From the Deputy Principal (Acting)
Handing Back to Kay Bradley
Being Acting Deputy Principal for the last part of the term has been a busy and enjoyable experience. I take my hat off to Kay Bradley for her incredible efforts as a Deputy Principal and I’m sure the New Farm community understands the important role she plays for the school. As Kay returns, I will be heading off to Central Office to work on the Technologies Curriculum, Premier’s Coding Challenge and many new areas of innovation.
I have thoroughly enjoyed providing guidance around technology to students, teachers and the community and I look forward to hearing all about the school in the future.
Assembly
On Friday morning we will have our last whole school assembly for 2021. This is a time to celebrate our amazing learning journey at New Farm State School. As a parent I am so proud of my little one’s journey and I’m sure you are too.
Swimming Carnival
At this stage the Junior Swimming carnival is going ahead tomorrow as planned. Prep to Year 1 students will swim in the morning and Year 2 and 3 students will swim in the afternoon.
The Senior Swimming Carnival has been rescheduled for Monday. Let’s hope the sunny weather returns to the Sunshine State.
Please be aware the carnivals are for students only, due to limited seating around the pool.
Second BYO iPad Information Session
On Friday morning parents attended the latest information session. Digital Citizenship was a major focus of the event and we will be developing a plan to roll out in 2022. As part of the process teachers are trialling a number of programs with their classes. We look forward to providing you plenty of guidance as we work together to support all families.
If you have a child in Year 3 to 6, please refer to the BYO iPad Spark page.
Class Parties
Class parties will be organised by individual year levels. Please refer all questions to classroom teachers.
