P&C Meeting
On Thursday 11 November 6-8pm our final 2021 P&C general meeting will be held in the Curriculum Room. All Welcome.
Staffing 2022
In the last week of school, class allocations and teachers will be announced to students and parents. We have a small number of changes.
Transferring to other Brisbane schools are Mr Steve Conde and Mr Garth Coyle, both very well-respected teachers who contributed greatly during their time at New Farm. We wish them all the best for their new appointments. Incoming transfer – we welcome Ms Emma Kemph. Emma is a caring inclusive teacher with over 15 years’ experience identifying and supporting gifted and talented students in their ability to achieve academic, emotional and social success.
In our office Marg Davidson is retiring and Camille Vanderzant has secured a full-time position at another school. Both Marg and Camille have been very efficient team members and will be greatly missed.
Active School Travel – We’re In!
Our school has been selected as one of 18 new schools joining Brisbane City Council’s Active School Travel (AST) program in 2020.
Active School Travel promotes clean and green, active and healthy school travel modes such as walking, cycling, scootering, carpooling and public transport. Over the next three years, our school will receive a range of free resources, tools, incursions from Council to enable active travel to and from school.
By choosing to actively travel to school, at least one day a week on our active travel day, we can reduce traffic congestion at the school gate, improve our students’ road safety awareness, create a cleaner environment, and improve our health and fitness! Or if you have to drive, park the car away from the school and actively travel the rest of the way. That’s Park & Stride.
More details to come early next year, and we strongly encourage you to be part of this great initiative to change our school environment and culture.
Start thinking how you can use your car less travelling to and from school next year.

2022 BYO iPad Program
Once again, we are offering another opportunity for parents to discuss our digital program. This is an opportunity for all members of school community to engage in the program.
On October 26th we had almost 80 parents attend our annual information evening. This was an amazing turn out and they were fortunate enough to hear from 10 passionate staff who attended/presented on the evening. With 94% BYO iPad uptake of the program, we are very excited about expanding our program in 2022.
In order to continue building our community engagement we are offering a second information session for parents from Prep to Year 6. For this event you will hear from teachers, parents and students. Please be aware that the BYO iPad program will only run for students in Years 3 to 6.
Before attending the morning session, we would appreciate it if you could look through our BYO iPad Spark Page to better understand the program. The App list is still in draft form and will be available soon.
Each year the school selects a guest presenter to speak to parents about supporting children with digital devices. This year, Dr Kristy Goodwin presented ‘Raising Your Child Online’. This is a must watch event for all parents.
