World Admin Day Friday 07 May – On behalf of all staff I wish to thank our admin team (Lena, Yvonne, Viv, Karen, Camille, Natalie and Marg) for the many and varied jobs they do for our school. Our admin team are often the first port of call for parents and visitors to our school and so having a welcoming friendly introduction is essential. Thank you to all our team for the work they do for our school community.
Parent Teacher Interviews
Thank you to the many parents who attended last week’s parent-teacher interviews. Both after school sessions went well offering a chance for parents and carers to meet staff and update on progress and goals. Thank you to the leadership team for managing the booking, timing and catering and to admin/facilities staff for setting up and cleaning up for the event. It takes a team effort to ensure these events go well. Any feedback on how we can improve the process is always gratefully received, please email kbrad27@eq.edu.au.
Pyjama Day
Thank you to Fatima and Year 6 C&C leaders for coordinating this year’s fundraiser for the Smith Family foundation and Breast Cancer. It was well supported by students with gold coin donations and the lunchtime movie attendance. Thanks to staff for getting into the fun of the day by wearing PJs, the students and parents love seeing staff involvement. The students and families raised approximately $900 for these two worthy charities.
Class Visits
Last week I visited year 3, 5 and prep for their literacy lessons. Fantastic explicit work happening in all classes. The preppies in particular are doing very well as they move into new ability groupings following their term 1 assessment. The consistency in lesson delivery is evident in the seamless way students have adjusted to their new groupings and new teachers.
IGA Donation
Thank you to Jaak and Pete from Brunswick Street IGA for attending our assembly today to present our school with $1000 from their community chest donations. The money will go to supporting equipment for our students as part of work in our Inclusion Pillar.

Facilities and Building Update
Crane installation and oversailing Annie and Hawthorne streets.
Installation proposed for Saturday 8 May from 6.30am (weather permitting). Restricted access to the school site via Heal Street only. Parking restriction will be in place in Annie Street.
Please note works will be completed by mid-afternoon if all runs smoothly. There will be multiple truck movements to and from the Annie St. entrance to site, all activity will be supervised by traffic control.
All assembly works will be within the site boundaries so we will not be lifting any items over any property. When finished, it will then be in free slew, meaning it rotates with the wind direction. People often worry that the crane swings around when not in use, but it is normal practice.
